What is WAT?

Each fall, our students take the lead on one of Marian’s favorite traditions — Walk-A-Thon! It’s a fun, spirited fundraising competition between the classes to see who can raise the most money.  Walk-a-Thon is about more than fundraising — it’s about living out our values of sisterhood, equity, and access, which have been at the heart of Marian for 70+ years. Each year, Walk-a-Thon raises over $130,000, helping ensure that no student is turned away due to financial need.

To encourage the success of this important fundraiser, it is filled with plenty of incentives along the way. Think dress-down days, jeans days, sweatpants in January (yes, please!), and bragging rights for Field Day — including first pick of colors and presentation order. That one’s a huge deal to our students.

We’ll help guide the freshmen with fundraising ideas like bake sales, restaurant nights, car washes, and other creative ways to get the community involved. We encourage them to be accountable and think outside the box — and truly, every dollar counts.

Each week between kick-off and final collections, winners are announced and incentives are awarded.  

However you choose to support — donating, using a company match, or spreading the word to family and friends — thank you for being part of this effort. All proceeds from this fundraiser go to tuition assistance. We truly couldn’t do it without you!
