Marian’s athletic program consists of eleven Class A state-sanctioned sports: volleyball, cross country, softball, golf, basketball, bowling, soccer, track, tennis, swimming and diving, and wrestling. Within all eleven sports we have a total of 24 teams. More than 40% of Marian girls participate in one or more of the athletic teams.
Membership on an athletic team is a privilege and not a right; high standards are set for the Marian athlete. Student athletes will be given the opportunities to develop their self management and leadership skills, self esteem, cooperation and team work, personal values, coping skills, sportsmanship and physical fitness while being instructed and motivated to strive for excellence in sport. Through cooperation and teamwork, an athlete learns that weakness is compensated by strength and that success is sometimes achieved only after experiencing failure.
