Welcome to Marian!

As a prospective parent, we encourage you to take advantage of all the exciting events Marian has planned for your daughter. Nebraska’s only Class A, college-prep school for girls

College Prep

At Marian, we are committed to educating the whole girl. Academic, social, physical and spiritual development is essential to ensuring our students reach their full potential. The college-prep curriculum is rigorous and well-defined; it is tailored to the needs and interests girls. In addition, Marian offers extensive leadership opportunities through its extracurricular programs. Whether you are interested in athletics or the arts, there is a place for everyone at Marian. Our comprehensive program prepares our students for college and beyond.

Optimal Size

As Nebraska's only Class A girls' high school, Marian provides the opportunities of a large high school in a smaller setting. Research identifies an optimal high school enrollment of 600-900 students. Marian fits the ideal size, which fosters stronger student achievement, higher student participation and a richer curriculum.

The All-Girls Advantage

Marian is a comfortable, welcoming, inclusive community where every girl can thrive. The all-girl student body creates a culture of hard work along with the freedom to be oneself and discover one's gifts. Grades and challenging courses are important to our students. Achievement is supported and encouraged by faculty and peers.

Research shows the benefits of all-girls schools. According to a review of studies by the U.S. Department of Education (2005), in single-sex schools, girls:

  • Score higher on achievement tests
  • Choose more challenging courses
  • Have higher educational and career aspirations
  • Participate more in athletics
  • Are more likely to pursue careers in the fields of math, science or computers

Everything - classes, college planning, athletics, clubs and activities - is focused on the needs of girls. When girls become the focal point they achieve a greater level of development in academics, leadership and confidence.

What's more, the friendships and sisterhood formed at Marian will last a lifetime. The special bond of the Marian experience is shared among our more than 10,000 alumnae who have gone on to be leaders in their professions and communities.

Admissions Policy

Marian is a Catholic educational community open to academically qualified girls who uphold the philosophy and mission of Marian High School. Entrance tests and transfer evaluations are part of the admissions criteria. All curricular and course requirements apply to each girl who aspires to a Marian diploma.

Director of Recruitment

Coming from a very small middle school, Marian seemed intimidating and large when I first learned about it. But now, its size and community is one of the things I love most about it. I would also want my middle school self to know how many opportunities there are to get involved in the Marian community. I am involved in lots of clubs and activities that I didn’t even know existed before I came to Marian. Even if it takes time to realize it, you will find your friends and your people and that your teachers are always there for you too, no matter what.
