Omaha Marian’s Future Business Leaders of America students earned impressive recognition at the recent FBLA State Leadership Conference, bringing home awards for both chapter excellence and individual achievement. From academic competitions to community service initiatives, Marian’s FBLA members showcased leadership, innovation and dedication throughout the year.

Sophomore Journi Woods represented Marian at the street-renaming ceremony honoring longtime Catholic educator and civil rights leader Tessie O. Edwards. Journi is a recipient of the archdiocese's Tessie O. Edwards Memorial Scholarship. Edwards taught in multiple Omaha Catholic schools throughout her 46-year teaching career. She believed in the ability of Catholic education to transform lives, society and our nation, and students like Journi are carrying that forward.

Speech is an activity that has shaped many great speakers and actors, from Josh Gad to Oprah Winfrey. While speech has different events spanning from individual speeches on whatever the speaker wants to stay to full 15-minute plays, events can be broken up into two main categories: interpretation and public address.

Senior MajieAhna Winfrey became the 2026 Nebraska Poetry Out Loud Champion at the state competition at Midland University. She will represent Nebraska in the National Endowment for the Arts Poetry Out Loud program in Washington, D.C.

Harvard Model Congress is the world's largest congressional simulation. It allows students to assume the role of legislators to expand their perspectives and experience the issues first hand. Marian faculty and students attend the annual congress every February.

From Feb. 5-8, 2026, 23 Marian students participated in Model United Nations of the University of Chicago. Model UN brings together over 3,000 high schoolers from around the world gather to address some of the international community’s most pressing matters and make progress toward becoming future leaders.
