Career Fair Connects Students to Professions and Alumnae

Career Fair Connects Students to Professions and Alumnae
Susan Rosenlof
The alumnae who participated in the 2024 career fair

Marian hosted a career fair for students on Feb. 27. Booths were staffed by representatives from 48 organizations and included 37 representatives who were Marian alumnae. Juniors and seniors had the opportunity to browse the tables to learn about occupations in career fields ranging from accounting to graphic design to healthcare. Freshmen and sophomores attended a panel discussion led by industry experts.

Marian is committed to preparing young women for college and beyond – not only through academic rigor but also with the support needed to explore and create a career plan. A career fair encourages students to consider potential occupations and ask questions of industry professionals. The earlier students begin to hone in on their occupational interests, the more confident they can be in choosing a college and a program of study. It also allows Marian students to begin networking with alumnae and others in their field of interest who may be sources for internship and mentorship.

Students aren’t the only ones who benefit. Alumnae who attended the event also enjoyed connecting with the student body and fellow alumnae about their careers.

According to Alumnae Director Bailey Nihsen Postlewait ‘15, now in its second year, enthusiasm for the career fair is spreading with students and alumnae alike. “We will continue to build on the program and continue to increase alumnae and student engagement,” said Postlewait.

If you are interested in participating in next year’s career fair, please contact Bailey Postlewait at bpostlewait@omahamarian.org.
