Service and compassion, two of our Core Values, came to life in a powerful way as Marian freshmen partnered with the Christ Child Society of Omaha to support mothers and babies in need across the Omaha metro area.
Rooted in its Catholic mission, the Christ Child Society of Omaha has spent more than a century serving the community through layettes (bags filled with essential items for newborns) as well as educational support that empowers families for the future. This longstanding tradition of compassion and dignity aligned seamlessly with Marian’s commitment to forming young women that lead with faith and purpose.
Students jumped right into the behind-the-scenes work strapping backpacks and bundling diapers to ensure everything was ready. Then, each student took a backpack and moved down rows of tables, carefully placing designated items inside.
By the end, Marian freshmen had assembled 540 layette bags! Each one holding not only tangible support, but also a message of hope and care for a local family.
Students encountered the deeper meaning of giving, not just meeting immediate needs, but affirming the dignity of every person they serve. A great reminder and hands-on experience of our core values.
Moments like these shape more than a single day of service, they help form a lifelong commitment to living out our faith through action.
