Federal School Voucher Program available in 2027 in Nebraska

Federal School Voucher Program available in 2027 in Nebraska

The Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) establishes the first federal tax-credit scholarship program designed to expand educational access for families nationwide, with implementation beginning in 2027. Also known as the Federal School Voucher Program, it offers taxpayers up to $1,700 annually in federal tax credits directed to Opportunity Scholarships of Nebraska, a scholarship granting organization. These contributions help fund private school tuition, tutoring and other educational expenses for qualifying families.

Because Nebraska has elected to participate in the program, supporters will have the opportunity to direct funds to a Scholarship Granting Organization and designate Marian for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit 2027 on their 2027 tax return. As funds begin to accumulate for Marian, qualified Marian families will have access to these scholarship opportunities beginning in the fall of 2027. For Marian, where more than half of our students rely on tuition assistance to experience an all-girls, Catholic, college-preparatory education, ECCA represents an important new pathway to affordability and access.

We will share updates as they become available and help families and supporters understand how to benefit from and participate in these new tax credit opportunities.
