Students Explore Global Issues at Model UN
Susan Rosenlof

Marian students traveled to Chicago, Feb. 5-8, 2026, for the Model United Nations of the University of Chicago. This is the fourth year Marian has participated in this event where over 3,000 high schoolers from around the world gather to address some of the international community’s most pressing matters and make progress toward becoming future leaders.
Model UN requires each delegate to prepare statements on the issues presented. Students delivered speeches, formed blocs, navigated Q and A sessions, and ultimately wrote resolutions to solve some of our world's most important issues. Delegates spend three days representing their assigned country before voting on resolutions.
The mission of Model UN is to facilitate an experience where high school students from around the world become more active and informed leaders in their communities. Students who participate build their confidence as public speakers, critical thinkers, coherent communicators, and globally-conscious leaders.
