Optimist Award Winners for the month of Jan. and Feb. - Sophie and Sadie

Seniors Sophia Bostrom and Sadie Menicucci have been selected as the January and February 2026 Optimist Club Students of the Month. They were honored at a luncheon Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Oak Hills Country Club. They were introduced by their school counselor, who shared testimonials from teachers and peers about their community involvement and character.

According to Terry Braxton, director of the Optimist Club of Omaha, the club holds quarterly luncheons to recognize exceptional local students, with two selected from each participating school.

The Omaha Chapter of the Optimist Club, founded in October 1933, operates under the motto “A Friend for Youth.” Its mission is to uplift the community and recognize outstanding young people. In addition to the Student of the Month program, the club sponsors oratorical contests and Academic Decathlons, works with Boy Scout Troop 402, and actively fundraises for the childhood cancer campaign.

Congratulations, Sophia and Sadie!
