Marian Athletic Center: Building on a Winning Culture

Marian Athletic Center: Building on a Winning Culture
Susan Rosenlof
Marian's newest athletic indoor practice facility with space for wrestling, golf and softball

Marian competes at the top level in the Omaha metro and the competition for student athletes is intense. Legacy, facilities and high-caliber programs matter. Committed to excellence on and off the field, Marian completed major upgrades to all outdoor athletic facilities in 2023, and student-athletes have been enjoying its many benefits. Key features include:

  • A FIFA-regulation turf soccer field, the largest in Omaha, along with a new press box and LED scoreboard,
  • An improved softball field with new fencing, extended dugouts, a pitching warm-up and press box.
  • A six-lane, all-weather track with a turf infield.
  • Resurfaced tennis courts and a new windscreen.
  • A plaza and concessions area for an improved fan experience.

But the work to build the athletic complex didn’t stop there. Not long after, Marian purchased the building and property east of the softball field. This building is being renovated as an indoor training facility. The MAC (Marian Athletic Center) houses a golf training lab with two hitting bays and simulators, as well as a 32’ by 23’ sloped putting green with a chipping area and a sand pit. The space also includes two indoor softball batting cages and a space for the wrestling team to train. Marian athletes have been using the training spaces since the spring of 2024.

The potential for an elite training facility soon became evident. The vision for this space is to become a destination that attracts and retains elite athletes, providing the resources and environment for them to excel.

Marian is currently implementing an overall infrastructure upgrade that will incorporate cutting-edge technology and create a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere. The first phase of work is expected to be completed by winter 2025. If you would like to help champion this endeavor, please contact Vice President of Advancement Bonnie Kruse at bkruse@omahamarian.org.

Facility enhancements include:

  • Infrastructure updates - new windows, walls and bathrooms.
  • A modern, branded decor to promote each sport and inspire young athletes.
  • Dedicated storage space for equipment and student lockers.
  • Lounge space for student-athletes to socialize and study.
  • Community space for team dinners and film reviews.
  • Advanced video analysis systems, performance tracking tools, and virtual coaching platforms to enhance athlete development.
  • Space to honor our Crusader athletic history and our Crusader athletic future.

With 40% of Marian students participating on at least one athletic team, students have the opportunity to develop leadership and sportsmanship in a program renowned for its athletic history and commitment to future champions.
