The Marian Golf Team, along with parents and coaches, recently competed at the PGA High School National invitational in North Carolina.

Marian’s 2024 state champion girls' golf team recently capped off an unforgettable season with a trip to one of the most iconic golf destinations in the country—Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. The team earned an invitation to compete in the 2025 PGA High School National Invitational, held July 14-16, on Pinehurst’s famed No. 6 and No. 7 courses.

This prestigious event brings together state championship teams from across the country; select high school programs qualified based on scores and competition level. As Class A Nebraska State Champions, Marian competed alongside the top programs from the highest divisions nationwide.

Representing Marian at the three-day tournament were Lauren Murnan ’26, Delaney Schmitz ’27, Lucy Peterson ’26, Sloan Mackintosh ’25 and Madison Murnan ’25.

“Our girls earned this opportunity through their hard work and incredible season,” said Marian Assistant Golf Coach Dave Ulferts. “Pinehurst is one of the most legendary golf resorts in the world, and to have Marian represented here is something special.”

Throughout the tournament, the Crusaders faced top-tier competition on professional-level courses. Highlights included a standout first round from Lauren Murnan, shooting 76 (+4) on Pinehurst No. 7, and solid rounds across the board on the challenging No. 6 course.

The National Invitational is known not only for its competitive field but also for its connection to future opportunities, with top finishers earning national rankings points and potential exemptions into junior championships.

According to Head Golf Coach Robert Davis, Marian finished 13th of 32 state champion teams from around the country, and, among the cold-winter states, we were only behind Indiana. “With only one senior on this team that means four of our girls have the potential to return again next year (and the year after!), if we continue to win state…and the thought of going back next summer is a huge motivator for them in our upcoming season,” said Davis.

Congratulations to our Crusader golfers for representing Marian with pride on a national stage!
