The Marian golf team is celebrating a record-setting performance after capturing the Metro Conference championship at The Pines Country Club!

The Crusaders finished with a team score of 7-over 295, setting both a new Marian school record and a new Metro Conference tournament record. Marian also reclaimed the conference title after finishing runner-up to Westside in 2025.
Leading the way was senior Lauren Murnan, who captured her third Metro Conference individual championship with an impressive 2-under 70. Murnan recorded three birdies and just one bogey to finish three strokes ahead of teammate Lucy Peterson, who carded a 73.
Murnan’s championship continues a special family tradition. Her older sister, Madison, who now plays golf at Creighton, won the Metro individual title in 2023.
“My game was very consistent today, which made it easy to shoot 2 under par,” Murnan told the Omaha World-Herald. “I’m hoping I can keep it up for state.”
Marian continued to fill the top of the individual leaderboard, with Sloan McIntosh and Delaney Schmitz each shooting 76 to tie for fourth. Sophomore Claire Schmitz rounded out Marian’s scoring with an 85.
As a team, the Crusaders finished an impressive 39 strokes ahead of runner-up Omaha Westside, which posted a 334. Marian’s 295 also came just two strokes shy of the state record of 293, set by Lincoln Southwest in 2021.
The Crusaders now look to carry their momentum into districts and the state tournament.
“We are so proud of our team setting a conference record,” Murnan told the Omaha World-Herald. “We’re excited to take that momentum into districts and state.”
Congratulations to our Marian golfers on an incredible Metro Conference championship and a record-setting day!
