Alumnae Board Gets New Name

Alumnae Board Gets New Name
Susan Rosenlof

For over 19 years, the Alumnae Board of Advancement has helped Marian alumnae engage with their alma mater through meaningful events and other engagement opportunities. The Alumnae Board of Advancement had traditionally consisted of 13 members from various classes.

This year, the volunteer board is entering a new chapter; the Alumnae Board of Advancement will now be called the Alumnae Association Board. According to Alumnae Director Emily McKenna '16 this change is a long time coming. "The Alumnae Board of Advancement has been a driving force on so much of the Marian alumnae experience. I wanted this new name to represent the over 10,000 alumnae these volunteers help engage with Marian's mission through their volunteer work," said McKenna.

"It's an exciting time to be a member of the Marian Alumnae Association. We are shifting our focus to four key growth initiative interest groups aligning with Marian's mission. The four interest groups are recent alumnae, growth, legacy and Marian spirit. These four interest groups are focused on engaging our alumnae base. I'm excited about the interest group initiatives to drive engagement by showcasing and appreciating the gifts of each alumna to advance our mission", said Amy Wirges, Alumnae Association Board Chair.

Having these specific focus areas for the volunteer board's mission and changing its name creates more opportunities to get involved with the Alumnae Association outside the Alumnae Board of Advancement's traditional model. "I am excited for the board being restructured because it opens up so many opportunities for alumnae to become reconnected to Marian. Each alumnae has something they are passionate about, and I believe these four pillars offer something for everyone! If someone has been looking for a way to give back via their time or talents, the committee positions on the board will be a great starting point," says Erica Dunham Enholm '15, Vice Chairwoman of the Alumnae Association Board.

The Alumnae Association Board is excited for these new changes to continue engaging with alumnae around Omaha and the world.
