Caroline Drew, ’19, was named a finalist in the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) Design of the Year Contest on Oct. 1 for her work in last spring’s edition of BURN literary magazine.
Over 1,100 designs were submitted from 32 states. Judges selected just 100 finalists, ten in each of the ten categories. Drew is the only finalist selected from the state of Nebraska.

“We are incredibly proud of her…She is a very talented young woman,” English and journalism teacher Marsha Kalkowski said.

Drew’s work will be recognized in Washington D.C. at the NSPA National High School Journalism Convention on Nov. 23. Current Marian journalism students will be attending and competing at this event Nov. 21-24.

Drew also performed on-stage at the local Maha Music Festival this summer. She currently attends Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
