Marian High School is proud to announce that five Crusader student-athletes signed letters of intent April 16. While they have displayed stellar performances on the court and field their time spent in the classroom and community is just as impressive.
Sarah Anderson ’19 signed to play soccer at the College of Saint Mary. Sarah has earned varsity letters in cross country and basketball and was the captain of her club soccer team. At Marian, she has been involved in the Exploring Program, Science Club, Hearts of Marian, Chess Club, Sign Language Club, Operation Others, Art Club, Set Crew, Decade Darlings, Science Club, Spanish Club, National Honor Society and retreats. She also gives her time as a volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry, the Stephen’s Center and Rock Steady Boxing.
Bethany Bespoyasny ’19 signed to swim at South Dakota State University. Bethany was a four-year swim letter winner and qualified for the state tournament all four years, where she was a member of multiple state runner-up teams. At Marian, Bethany has been involved in Big Sisters, Coffee Club, Spanish Club, Art Club and Sophomore Retreat.
Clara Kidder ’19 will play soccer at Northwest Missouri State University. Clara was a part of the 2016 and 2017 state championship soccer teams and has won multiple state championships with her club team. Clara also volunteers as a coach for a youth soccer team. Outside of soccer, she is involved in Latin Club, Art Club and Coffee Club and has received awards for her participation in Marian’s orchestra and art programs. Additionally, she has participated in mission trips to Detroit, New Orleans and Costa Rica.
Julia King ’19 signed to play tennis at Creighton University. Julia is a two-time metro champion and two-time state runner-up in #1 singles. Additionally, Julia has been named to the First-Team All-State Tennis team three times, was ranked second in Nebraska for girls’ tennis and received the Omaha Sportsmanship Award. At Marian, she has been involved in the Faith in Action Team, Shadow Crew, Freshman Retreat, Latin Club, cross country, volleyball and Big Sisters. She gives her time tutoring at St. Pius and volunteering for Tennis Buddies.
Sophia Moes ’19 will play volleyball at Rockhurst University. Sophia was a three-year volleyball letter winner, varsity team captain and a member of the state championship volleyball team in 2017. She was named to the All-State Honorable Mention list three years in a row. Outside of volleyball, Sophia has been involved in Spanish Club, Science Club, Campus Ministry, Freshman Retreat, EMHC, the Winnebago Service Trip, National Honor Society and the honor societies for math, science, history and Spanish. She also gives her time coaching for a youth volleyball team.
