Volleyball
Volleyball is a fall sport at Marian. There are four volleyball teams: freshman, reserve, junior varsity and varsity. Marian's varsity volleyball team has claimed three state championships and three runners up. The varsity team has also been recognized seven times by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with the Game Plan/Team Academic Award, which honors teams who have matched their dedication to the sport of volleyball with excellence in the classroom.

The team was also ranked No. 12 nationally by www.prep.com.
Sophomore of the Year 
Sophomore Lauren Sieckmann has been named the 2009 National Sophomore of the Year by prepvolleyball.com. Sieckmann was also a finalist last year for the National Freshman of the Year honor.
This past volleyball season, Lauren has received both local and national recognition for her performance on the Crusader court. As a setter and right side attack for Marian, she leads the mighty Crusaders in assists and kills.
Nationally, Sieckmann was named Gatorade’s Nebraska Volleyball Player of the Year by the Gatorade Company and ESPN RISE! and was chosen for the 2010 U.S. Girls’ Youth National Volleyball team by the U.S.A. Volleyball High Performance Indoor Program.
Lauren has maintained a 3.25 GPA in the classroom, is a member of the Spanish Club, and has volunteered locally at a retirement home and as a youth volleyball instructor. She also has verbally committed to play volleyball on scholarship at the University of Nebraska—Lincoln beginning in the fall of 2012.
