Volleyball
Volleyball is a fall sport at Marian. There are four volleyball teams: freshman, reserve, junior varsity and varsity. Marian's varsity volleyball team has claimed four sta
te championships and four runners up. The 2009 State Championship Varsity Volleyball Team finished its season 39-1, ranked No. 1 in the state and No. 12 nationally by www.prep.com. The varsity team has also been recognized nine times by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with the Game Plan/Team Academic Award, which honors teams who have matched their dedication to the sport of volleyball with excellence in the classroom.

Varsity Volleyball Accomplishments!
Congratulations to
Marian's Varsity Volleyball team! They finished the season ranked 2nd in the State, both in the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World Herald newspapers. They also received national recognition by ESPN High School rankings. The 2011 Powerade FAB50 is a list of the top 50 volleyball teams in the country and Marian was ranked 43rd overall. Only three Nebraska teams were in the rankings.
State Tournament First-Round Match: Marian Sweeps LSW

On Thursday, November 10, 2011, Marian took on Lincoln Southwest in first-round Class A state tournament play. Marian defeated LSW 25-20, 25-19, 27-25. The Crusaders now advance to Friday's 11 a.m. semifinal against top-rated Papillion-La Vista South.
Elman Signs with Creighton University
Kate Elman, daughter of Mark and Jennifer Elman, signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for Creighton University. Kate is a four year letter winner and holds the state record for digs per season and digs per game at Marian.
Jansen Commits to Creighton Bluejays

Omaha Marian senior setter
Ashley Jansen has given an oral commitment to Creighton and will be a walk-on for the Bluejays. Jansen, one of two setters in the Marian offense, is averaging 5.4 assists.
Varsity
Volleyball on to State
On Wednesday, November 2, 2011, Marian's varsity volleyball team defeated Omaha Central 25-11, 25-7, 25-10, and then went on to claim the district final by beaitng out Lincoln North, 25-12, 25-13, 25-17. State tournament play begins on Thursday, November 10th, in Grand Island.
