Marian in the News: 2009 Tennis State Champs
Marian’s 2009 Tennis Team won the Class A State Championship for the second year in a row. For the first time in the history of Class A high school tennis, the Team swept all state titles and received a perfect score. Sophomore
Brooke Urzendowski won No. 1 singles; freshman
Jessie Koraleski claimed the No. 2 singles title, seniors
Anna Kirshenbaum and
Kathy Schuele won No. 1 doubles; and junior
Caroline Nelsen and sophomore
Kara Schuele took the No. 2 doubles title. As a result, the 101st session of the Nebraska State Legislature entered into record
Legislative Resolution 260, stating Marian as the first team to claim a perfect score in tennis. This record now holds a permanent spot in history.
