Dear Marian Family,
I have joked with a few teachers and staff members that I have felt strangely empowered since Marian opened its doors to me once again. It might be partially because the tagline, “confident, independent, thinking leader,” really resonates with me and has been branded so effectively. Nonetheless, it is empowering to work at Marian, where everyone is truly dedicated to encouraging young women to achieve their full potential and to carry their talents out into the world.
As a student, I was not able to fully appreciate how special Marian really is, nor did I realize how much four years within its walls would prepare me for life. I learned much more than the basics of government subsidized cheese from Schad and statistics from Ms. Rohlfs. I absorbed “common knowledge” from Mr. Di Mauro and even mastered double-multiple tests (thank you, Mr. Baker). I learned how to better articulate my faith and viewpoints, all while building life-long friendships with my classmates. Most importantly, I learned that a shared sense of community bonds people together forever. That is why it is a true gift, one that I have been humbled to accept, to be working at Marian and to be charged with helping to advance its mission.
As the Director of Advancement, I feel especially privileged to be here during such a wonderful juncture in Marian’s history. Marian not only continues to carry on its most cherished traditions, but also continues to look for ways to enhance its programming for students and alums. One major piece of this is the addition of a Performing Arts Center. As a student of the arts, I know firsthand how beneficial this addition would be for the Marian community. Thus, I am thrilled that I can be a part of the Spotlight on Our Future campaign. It is a testament to the work of the campaign leadership, and to the generosity of alumnae, parents and friends, that three of the four campaign objectives have already been met. I look forward to having the opportunity to report that the building of the final component, the PAC, is underway as well. I hope to meet all of you, and to those that I have already been fortunate enough to meet, I anticipate that we will see each other again very soon.
Blessings,
