Dance Studio Named in Honor of Longtime Dance Teacher

Marian’s future Dance Studio, which will be housed in the Performing Arts Center built upon completion of the final campaign goal, is to be named in honor of Michelle Procopio Delisi ’74. Michelle is a longtime dance teacher and Marian alumna that currently holds the position of Assistant to the Principal. In addition, she teaches ballet and tap classes, coaches the Marian Dance Team and the Pantomime Troupe; choreographs for the choirs and most recently choreographed her 36th musical production at Marian, Footloose. Delisi, a member of the Omaha Dance Teachers Association, also teaches technique classes and dance team classes at her family’s dance studio, Angie Procopio Dance Studio, Inc. in Omaha.
On Friday, February 3, 2012, grandparents are invited to attend our Catholic Schools Week All-School Mass at 9:30 a.m. and a reception following. There will then be time for students to take their grandparents to class or on a brief tour of the school. RSVP's to attend this event closed on Dec. 12, 2011. If you have any questions or would still like your grandparent(s) to receive a mailed invitation, please contact Shari Gilg at sgilg@omahamarian.org.
Endowed Scholarship Breakfast

On Wednesday, November 16, 2011, Marian celebrated the generosity of the school's endowed scholarship donors with the Endowed Scholarship Breakfast held for the scholarship donors and the students benefiting from their donations. These special gifts play an important role in making a faith-filled education a reality for Marian girls, empowering them to be confident, independent, thinking leaders. Pictured above is Jacqueline Smith '12, the Spirit of 81' Class Scholarship recipient, along with the scholarship donors, Dick and Mary Mangus, parents of four Marian alumnae.
Marian High School has named a new Director of Advancement, Sarah Jank, whose experience includes most recently serving as the Director of Development for Opera Omaha, along with a vast background in marketing, branding, accounting and donor relations. She holds a minor in music and an MBA from Valparaiso University in Indiana and began full time at Marian on September. “I am thrilled to be returning to my alma mater, Marian High School. My four years as a student at Marian helped me discover and develop my own unique talents and abilities, which enhanced my college experience and early professional career. It is a wonderful gift that I now have the opportunity to come back to carry out the mission of Marian through philanthropy. I can't think of better job satisfication than knowing that my work, along with the work of the entire Advancement Department, helps other girls have access to the high quality education and experiences that I did,” Sarah explained.
Only with the generosity of Marian’s Board of Directors, parents, alumnae, parents of alums, faculty and staff, grandparents and friends can Marian offer the level of exceptional education parents have come to expect. Together we can guarantee that Marian’s mission continues, committing all its resources to the college preparatory education of young women, teaching them to be confident, independent, thinking leaders.
