"When my daughter expressed an interest in attending Marian, her enthusiasm was so contagious, that I intended to do all I could to fulfil this dream. Little did I know what a great fit the school would be for her, and vice-versa! At Marian and most Catholic High Schools, if you want your child to attend, financial aid is an integral component to make it happen.  The 4 years at Marian have gone by so fast. The education has been beyond every expectation; The relationships, both with students and faculty, will be life-long; The environment at Marian truly prepares your daughter for college, whether she intends to further her education or not. This has been made possible because of tuition assistance. I am forever grateful for this wonderful investment in my daughter."

For some parents high school tuition payments seem daunting.  So after 50 years of successful all-girls education, Marian is introducing an assertive statement of willingness to negotiate your tuition responsibilites with you if necessary.  Your full participation is as important as our promise to make Marian affordable for you.  We will review all demonstrated need in order to ensure that financial obstacles do not prevent your daughter from attending Marian.  Many factors are considered when determining the amount of tuition assistance distributed to each family.  Be sure to apply for assistance if Marian’s tuition is a concern.

  • In 2006-2007, 48% of Marian families received financial assistance totaling more than $425,000.

  • A basic component to Marian’s tuition assistance is Marian’s Work Study Program.  The Work Study Program provides opportunities for students to work before, during or after school to help reduce the cost of tuition.

  • In addition, twenty $3,000 scholarships ($750 four year renewable) are awarded to eighth grade girls who score the highest on the placement exam taken at Marian.

If you feel that you have a demonstrated need please read our Making Marian Affordable For You brochure explaining our program of tuition reduction.

Note:  Marian will review all completed applications and will reply to all requests for assistance prior to registration for the upcoming school year.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Marian’s tuition negotiable?  Marian will work personally with each family to meet all demonstrated financial need.  We welcome the opportunity to talk about how to make Marian affordable for you.

Does tuition need to be paid all at once?
Marian has many payment plan options including annually, quarterly, semi-annually and monthly.  In addition, many families prorate their payments to include anticipated tax refunds.

What is taken into consideration when determining the tuition assistance award?  Family income is the base factor for the aid awarded.  In addition, the number of children in the family, number in Catholic schools, number in college and special circumstances such as health issues and debt are also considered.

Do many students participate in the Marian Work Program?  Yes, 233 students work before, after and during school to provide secretarial and light cleaning duties. Students may work for tuition credit even if they are not on tuition assistance.

I have heard that other Catholic schools provide better financial aid packages than Marian.  Is that true?  No.  Although not completely knowledgeable of other schools’ tuition assistance programs, we have compared our aid amounts with other Catholic schools and found most to be similar.

If our family situation changes in the middle of the year can our tuition assistance change?  Yes.  Communication is key.  Contact the Director of Finance to discuss any change in your circumstance.

Do any students come to Marian for free?  No.  Catholic education is a choice and a sacrifice.  As such, each family is expected to commit to a Marian education through some amount of monetary investment.

How is tuition assistance funded?  Marian is much more than a school; it is a community.  This community believes strongly in the value of a Marian education and her mission of educating young women to be leaders and life-long learners who will bring hope to the world.  The members of the Marian community support Marian High School through substantial gifts of time and treasure, which ultimately support the tuition assistance program.  The Marian Endowment, Annual Fund Drive and fundraising events contribute a significant amount to our budgeted tuition assistance.
