Fine Arts
Marian’s Fine Arts Program encourages its students to express themselves openly and on stage, on canvas or through music. This department gives each student her voice, the freedom to discover herself and develop her full potential.
Marian High School provides instruction in music (instrumental and vocal), art, dance and drama. Several of these areas offer a four-year academic program of study. Click here for the student-sponsored website.
Students perform solos and/or ensemble work locally, statewide and nationally.
includes ballet and tap classes for the beginner and the intermediate student. Dance demonstrations are held at the end of each semester and these students often participate in the fall musical productions. In addition, more advanced students have the opportunity to choreograph their own piece.
provides opportunities for students to participate in both large and small ensembles. During the year instrumentalists perform in regularly scheduled concerts and recitals as well as liturgies and special events. Private and class instruction is available for both beginning and advanced students. The vocal and instrumental instructors have an average of 35 years teaching experience in their area of expertise.
There are 10 semesters of instruction available. Advanced classes are given for honors credit. Each year Marian students are recognized for their artistic talents in local and national competitions and their work has been displayed in New York, Washington, D.C. and Nebraska. The visual arts faculty has over 30 years of combined art teaching experience.
classes are also taught at Marian. Students learn dramatic experience is a very human activity—one that reaffirms “I exist. My life has meaning.”
At Marian, students participate in performing arts both in and out of the classroom. Extra and co-curricular performing arts activities are multiple and varied, including: Pantomime Troupe (the only in the state of Nebraska), Speech Team, Fall Musical, Spring Drama, dance and musical performances that celebrate diversity and enhance liturgy
